Propulsion comes courtesy of the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology. The drivetrain developed by the BMW Group generates, according to the latest calculations, more than 370 kW/500 hp, and allows a range of over 600 kilometres in WLTP cycle. Thats the equivalent of more
than 300 miles according to EPA test cycle FTP-75. (All specifications regarding mileages, energy consumption and range are predictions, based on the current development status of the vehicle.) The new charging technology on the BMW iX allows DC rapid charging with an output of up to 200 kW. This allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent of its total capacity in under 40 minutes.

Behind the powerful appearance of the BMW iX lies a lot of high tech. One symbol of this is the new BMW grille. This “intelligent surface” contains cameras, radar and many more sensors, takes on digital functions, and has a self-healing effect. As far as the driver is concerned, the technology
remains in the background. Its functions are only apparent when they are being used. This Shy Tech philosophy makes for new design elements in both the interior and the exterior.
